Teacher Evaluation

The West Haven school district has a teacher evaluation model that is based on more than just classroom observations.

The goal of the teacher evaluation system is to help educators improve their skills, which will translate to better teaching in the classroom. That, in turn, leads to higher student achievement.

The move is in response to a state mandate for all districts to update teacher evaluation programs, and it also encompasses administrator evaluations. Districts must align evaluation strategies to the state’s System for Educator Evaluation and Development, or SEED.
