The Connecticut State Legislature passed legislation
in 2000, which Governor Rowland signed into law on June 1, 2000. Public
Act 00-187 established the Commission for Educational Technology which
was given the task of working with the Connecticut State Department of
Education to ensure that all students achieve competency in computing
skills by the end of the sixth grade. It also requires all public school
teachers to have specific computing skills and be able to integrate
technology into the curriculum.
To this end, the Connecticut
State Department of Education has developed competencies for students,
teachers and administrators.
