Initial Support Teacher Training

Mentoring a novice teacher can be one of the most rewarding professional experiences a veteran teacher can have.

Mentors must accept up to 3 mentees per year if asked.  Also, you may not accept student teachers if you have not been trained or retrained with the specifics of the new TEAM program.

Eligibility Requirements:

Teachers who:

• hold a Connecticut provisional or professional educator certificate
• have at least three years of classroom teaching experience, including at least one year of experience in current district
• have District Facilitator's approval

TEAM training will also prepare teachers to serve in the role of cooperating teacher for a student teacher from a university.

Once you submit your request to be added to the mentor list, the District Facilitator will review your qualifications.  If you are accepted into the program, you will be given the web address to register.
