Welcome to THE WEST HAVEN BOARD OF Education

Welcome to the West Haven Board of Education’s website. The West Haven Public School District is composed of nine schools: Alma E. Pagels Elementary School, Edith E. Mackrille Elementary School, Forest Elementary School, Savin Rock Community School, Seth G. Haley Elementary School, Washington Elementary School, Carrigan Intermediate School, Bailey Middle School and West Haven High School.

We invite you to learn more about our schools, which currently accommodate around 5,900 students, and the countless programs that help enrich each child’s education.

We are fortunate to have a school system brimming with bright and ambitious students, resourceful and innovative teachers, and staff members who work tirelessly to keep the district running. We see our teachers and staff members truly putting students first in everything they do and making strategic decisions to help our youngsters advance in their academic careers.

We are developing more opportunities for kids each year. Course selections are growing, and schools continue offering new programs that help create well-rounded and inquisitive students. Meanwhile, administrators are strengthening partnerships with outside institutions, such as the University of New Haven and Yale University, to give children a leg up in learning about career and college paths.

Teachers and staff members are recognizing their students’ strengths, while encouraging them to take on new challenges, and we’re seeing the positive effects of this approach every day.

Be sure to visit this site frequently, as events, announcements and school and district news will be updated nearly every day. To contact the district or webmaster, click here.
